ARFF counters circus ads

The Ringling Bros. circus has begun advertising its upcoming performances in Florida. On Friday, the Sun-Sentinel newspaper published a letter from ARFF that reminded readers of the cruel reality behind the “glitz and glamour” of the circus. ARFF’s letter asked, “Imagine what it must be like to live either chained or confined in a small barred cage, constantly traveling in the back of a truck or train, when in your natural habitat you would be free to exhibit your natural behaviors.”
This year, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus will perform in late December and January in West Palm Beach, Fort Myers, Tampa, Miami, Orlando, Lakeland, Sarasota, Jacksonville and Daytona Beach. ARFF is hoping to hold demonstrations against the circus on opening night in each city of Ringling’s tour in Florida. In some cities, such as Miami, ARFF will be present at every performance, leafletting circusgoers. Please join us!
