Cocaine and alligators a dangerous mix

One of the top stories in central Florida last week was an alligator “attack” in Lakeland.
People living near Lake Parker called police early Wednesday morning after hearing a man calling for help. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and rescued the man from the jaws of an alligator. The man, who was rushed to a local hospital, told deputies that he had been smoking crack cocaine before entering the lake. It goes without saying that you should not smoke crack, take off your clothes and swim in a muddy lake at 4 in the morning. Sadly, the alligator was later captured and killed because of the man’s stupidity.
The incident ended badly for both man and alligator, and it provided one of the oddest headlines we’ve read in a while, “Naked man on crack when alligator attacked.”
