Cruelty case terrifies Tampa
December 6th, 2006 by admin
Residents of a Tampa neighborhood are fearful of the return of one of their neighbors- and for good reason! Last week, a man who apparently was angry at cats leaving paw prints on his car, killed three cats, including an 8-month-old kitten, by first burning them with a propane torch and then drowning them in a container of water. Richard Aaron Wyatt (8510 N. Orange View Ave.) has been arrested and charged with three felony counts of animal cruelty.
Marti Ryan, spokeswoman for Hillsborough County Animal Services, told the Tampa Tribune, “The incident particularly worries animal services because animal abuse correlates directly with human abuse.”
Please contact the State Attorney’s Office and demand that they take this case seriously. Ask them to push for the maximum penalties (including psychological evaluation/counseling) if Mr. Wyatt is found guilty.
