Fur: How can I get rid of it?

Of course, a fur coat or any garment with fur trim would be a horrible holiday gift. Today’s “Action Line” column in the Miami Herald featured a question from a woman in Coral Gables trying to find a responsible way to dispose of inherited mink coats. The woman wrote that her sister doesn’t want the coats either, “Neither of us wants them, but for ethical reasons, we both feel uncomfortable allowing someone else to wear them. On the other hand, it seems like a waste to put them in the trash.”
The Herald wisely suggested that the coats be donated to the Humane Society of the United States’ Coats for Cubs program. Donated fur is cut into pieces and distributed to wildlife rehabilitators who use it to keep orphaned and injured wildlife warm. Click here for more information about the program.
