Shelter that worked to help storm victims now needs help

You may have heard about the fire early Thursday morning at Seminole County Animal Services in Sanford. 32 cats and seven dogs died of smoke inhalation. Fortunately, firefighters were able to save over 200 animals at the shelter, including an iguana, a potbellied pig and a dog who had already been adopted but was waiting to be picked up by his new human companion.
Last week, Seminole County Animal Services were helping to care for four-legged victims of the tornados. This week, they are in need of help themselves. In particular, they need donations of blankets and towels, food bowls, dog crates, cat carriers, dog and cat shampoo and plastic litter trays to replace those destroyed in the fire.
Donated items can be dropped off at Seminole County Volunteer Services (100 Weldon Boulevard in Sanford). For more information, Volunteer Services can be contacted at (407) 323-4440, Ext. 2.
