sublime2.jpgToday, the St. Petersburg Times published an Associated Press article that has appeared in dozens of newspapers across the country in the past few days. The article reports on the boom in vegetarian restaurants across the country. According to the article, “There are 1,000 to 1,200 vegetarian restaurants in the United States, almost double the number seven years ago.” Sublime, an award-winning vegan restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, was profiled along with its owner (and ARFF President), Nanci Alexander. Nanci explained that she opened the restaurant, not to make a profit, but to make it easier for people to switch to a vegetarian/vegan diet.

More good news for hungry vegans! If you’re headed to SunFest, “Florida’s largest music, art & waterfront festival” this weekend (May 3-6) in downtown West Palm Beach be sure to stop at the Vegetarian Oasis booth in the food court. The booth will be serving up a grilled marinated tofu wrap, a “black bean toastie” and Thai coconut curry. This is the first year for Oasis at SunFest.
