Another day, another exotic animal on the loose
June 22nd, 2007 by admin
Most Floridians don’t need to be reminded that exotic animals don’t make good pets. Sadly, almost every week there is an incident that illustrates the need for better laws to protect animals, people, and the environment. Most recently, on Sunday a man in Fort Myers discovered a 10-foot Burmese python on his patio.
While residents and city and county officials struggle with the mess caused by escaped and released exotic pets, pet stores continue to carelessly sell the animals to anyone who wants to buy them. Please contact governor Crist, and your state senator and state representative and ask that the problem of exotic animals in florida be addressed at the source, by banning the sale of exotics in pet stores.
