One person can have a big impact

It’s not always easy to speak up for animals. But in our experience it’s always worth it to send an e-mail, make a phone call or mail a letter. You never know when you will reach a friend of animals, and sometimes all it takes is one person to make a difference.
Last month, ARFF member and West Palm Beach resident Brooke Bailey contacted her city commissioner with a request that the city consider a resolution against the intensive confinement of chickens on egg farms. Brooke was surprised to quickly hear back from Commissioner Kimberly Mitchell, who expressed support for the idea. In Commissioner Mitchell, Brooke had discovered a strong advocate for the animals.
At Monday’s city commission meeting, the resolution was adopted with a unanimous vote. After the vote, a local television station produced an excellent report on the resolution. The report included footage of the miserable lives of hens inside traditional egg farms. Click here to view the WPBF TV 25 report.
