We’re not as proud of these Florida Congressmen
September 7th, 2007 by admin
One blog we enjoy reading is Wayne Pacelle’s “A Humane Nation.” This week, Mr. Pacelle, the President of The Humane Society of the United States, wrote about a group of 31 Congressmen who voted against each of the three major animal protection measures to be considered by the U.S. House of Representatives so far in 2007.
These men voted against increasing penalties for dogfighting (Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement Act), against a bill that would end the slaughter of wild horses (Wild Horse Protection Act), and against an amendment (H.R. 2643) that would have stopped American trophy hunters from importing the skins of polar bears killed in Canada.
Unfortunately, there are two Floridians on the list— Reps. Connie Mack and Cliff Stearns. If you live in the 14th or 6th Congressional District, please let your congressman know that animal protection is an important issue for you. Politely urge them to take pro-animal positions in the future.
