Duckling rescue

On Friday, the website of the Palm Beach Post featured a wonderful series of photographs about the rescue of Muscovy ducklings who had fallen into a drainage pipe at an apartment complex.

The maintenance man at Indian Pines in Stuart is Ted Greck. From the Post: “Greck, with his miniature pinscher Shotzy riding shotgun on the golf cart Greck uses to do his job around the development, was checking lights around the complex when he noticed a Muscovy duck and two ducklings chirping around a stormwater drainage grate on the property. Curious, Greck investigated and discovered the hen’s ducklings had somehow made their way into the pipe.” Greck called Martin County’s Animal Control Unit, who sent officer Jason Pickering to the scene to help. Together, they rescued 13 ducklings. The Post’s story concluded, “. . . after it was all over, the mother and her ducklings headed south away from the drainage pipe.”
