On Wednesday, the Miami Herald profiled designer Nancy Gonzalez, who is well-known for her high-end handbags made out of crocodile skin (the Herald noted, “she also works with mink, sable, chinchilla and astrakhan- a breed of lamb from Russia”). Each year Gonzalez produces thousands of bags from animals killed at her crocodile farm in Colombia.

The bags come in a range of colors, from orange to red to pink. Perhaps Gonzalez dyes the crocodile skin to help her forget that she is working with the skin of a once living animal? She admitted to the Herald that there is one thing she doesn’t like about her bloody business, ‘’I don’t like to see them [crocodiles] alive. It makes me very sad.'’
