As difficult as it is to hear reports of animal cruelty, we are often encouraged to learn of Floridians standing up and demanding justice for the victims.

“On her way to Walgreens, Denise Pribe didn’t expect to see three small kittens being thrown from a truck traveling in front of her on a rural North Lakeland road.” That’s how an article in today’s Lakeland Ledger began. Denise, along with her friend Sean Reynolds, called 911 and pursued the pickup until sheriff’s deputies caught up with them and arrested 67-year-old David Carl Arthur of Lakeland. Denise told the paper, “We weren’t going to let him go.” One of the kittens died and another has not been found, but the third kitten survived and is now in the care of Polk County Animal Control. Thank you Denise for your willingness to take risks and ensure that this crime did not go unpunished!
