Furry and feathered storm victims need new homes
September 9th, 2008 by admin
Here’s an update on a previous post. After a two-week search, 79 animals- three dogs, 66 cats, six birds and four hamsters- have been recovered from the flooded Manna Christian RV Park in Bonita Springs (the park was evacuated on August 23 following Tropical Storm Fay). According to an article in today’s Fort Myers News-Press, officers from Lee County Animal Services “waded in water above their knees that was tainted by raw sewage to rescue animals left behind.” Sadly, only eight animals have been reclaimed by their owners. Many of the rescued animals are now in need of permanent homes. Can you help? For information, call (239) 533-7387 or visit the website www.LeeLostPets.com.
