Dogs and cats who are not sterilized are more likely to get loose from a home (and more likely to be injured in run-ins with other animals or with automobiles). In Pompano Beach, those escapes have become more expensive.

This week the Pompano Beach City Commission passed an ordinance that creates a $250 fine for owners of unsterilized dogs and cats found wandering the streets. If the owner provides proof within 30 days that their dog or cat has been spayed or neutered, the fine will be waived.
