Florida’s pleasant climate makes our state a leader in oranges and other agricultural products, a popular destination for tourists and retirees, and a great place for animals of all kinds to settle down and start a family.

Florida’s growing population of iguanas and pythons have caught the public’s attention, but animals don’t have to be “exotic” to enjoy the warm weather. Friday’s Florida Times-Union included a story about a bunny problem in one Jacksonville neighborhood. According to the paper, Arben Bregu, a local homeowner, “bought five rabbits about six months ago as pets for his five children. The rabbits were kept in pens in his backyard until one of the children accidentally opened one of the cages.” The escaped rabbits multiplied and now there are an estimated three dozen domestic rabbits roaming the neighborhood. “I’m trying to catch them,” Bregu told the paper.
