rodeo.jpgNext week the Southeastern Circuit Finals Rodeo comes to Davie, Florida. Organizers are promoting the rodeo as “the biggest event in the history of Davie.” On Friday (November 6), CBS4 News’ Chief Meteorologist David Bernard will broadcast live from the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds.

Shortly after Bernard finishes his telecast, the rodeo will begin. During the Tie Down Roping event (more commonly known as calf-roping), young animals running as fast as they can will be snapped to a stop by a lasso tightened around their necks. During Steer Wrestling, cowboys will compete to brutally wrestle animals to the ground as fast as possible. Steers will be subjected to painful tail-twisting to make them run from chutes. The evening will continue with bareback riding, bull riding and team roping.

You Can Help
We’re going to give Mr. Bernard the benefit of the doubt and assume that he is not aware of the cruelty and violence of rodeo. Please contact him and politely urge him to reconsider his association with this event.
