Despite recent school shootings around the country, some hunters in Florida apparently see nothing wrong with shooting guns near schools.

grey-squirrel.jpgElementary and high schools in Alachua County were placed on lockdown for two hours Wednesday morning “after a parent noticed a man walking in the vicinity of the schools with what appeared to be a shotgun,” the Gainesville Sun reported. Sheriff’s deputies located the man, who explained that he was hunting squirrels.

In a separate incident on Tuesday morning, two men shot a squirrel in a tree 40 feet from an elementary school in Gilchrist County, causing the school to be locked down until the hunters were located.
