Four greyhounds suffer broken legs during one days racing!
June 8th, 2010 by admin
March 20 was a bad day at the Sarasota Kennel Club. Four greyhounds fell and broke a leg during races. Three of the dogs were euthanized by the track veterinarian. As shocking as this is, it was not unusual. According to an excellent article in Sunday’s Sarasota Herald Tribune, 14 greyhounds were euthanized after accidents at the track during 19 weeks of racing. The exact number of dogs injured/killed this year at the Sarasota Kennel Club, or at Florida’s 12 other tracks, is not known because the State of Florida does not require tracks to report when an animal is injured or dies.
