film-strip.jpgThe Elephant in the Living Room is a documentary film about the keeping of exotic animals as “pets.” The film was recently awarded best feature documentary at The Genesis Awards. It’s an excellent film with a power message. Click here to watch the trailer. The film opens this Friday, April 1, in Orlando (Cobb Plaza Cinema Café 12), Jupiter (Cobb Jupiter 18) and Lake Worth (Lake Worth Playhouse). On April 15, the film opens in Tampa (Regal Citrus Park) and Miami Beach (Regal South Beach).

Beginning on Friday, Mercy for Animals’ “Farm to Fridge Tour” enters Florida. The 41-city tour, aimed at exposing consumers to the suffering of animals on factory farms, features a truck retrofitted with giant TV screens that will screen the powerful documentary, Farm to Fridge. The truck will make stops in Tampa, Fort Myers, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Jacksonville. Click here for a schedule.

Project Nim is the unsettling story of Nim, a chimpanzee who in the 1970s became part of an experiment which attemped to show that an ape could learn to communicate (using sign language) if raised like a human child. The film will be shown on Friday, April 8, in Winter Park as part of the Florida Film Festival. Click here to purchase tickets.
